Once upon a time, a god named Dean Herbert resided in heaven. His daughter, Otohime, was a pioneer of beautifully flowing difficult maps for osu!mania. Dean was very proud of her work, so she was always working hard to make maps, to the point where she never had any time to go outside, meet anyone, or fall in love. Dean then found the strongest osu!mania player in the universe, Yubihoshi, and introduced him to Otohime. When the two met, they fell in love immediately. Once married, because they spent so much time with each other, Otohime stopped making maps and Yubihoshi's fingers began to rust. Out of fury, Dean separated the two and forbade them from seeing each other again. He promised that if Otohime ever won MCA, he would make an exception on the seventh day of the seventh month of that year.

In the osu!mania community today, people celebrating this day will write down their wishes for the kind of maps they would like to see created, in hopes that Otohime will use their wishes to make a map that will help her win MCA. However, there have been so many requests that Otohime is looking for help -- that's where you come in!

本日、osu!maniaコミュニティでは、この日を祝う人々が、どんな譜面を作ってほしいか願い事を書きます。それは、音姫が願い事を使ってMCAで勝ち取れる譜面を作ってくれることを願うためです。ところが、リクエストが多くて、音姫は助けを求めています。それはあなたの出番です！

Schedule

1. May 3 — Contest announcement and forum post.
2. May 3-11 — Prompt submissions open.
3. May 8 — Prompt draft deadline. Between this date and May 11th, you will be allowed to submit revisions to your prompt. Be sure to check your osu! inbox for a message from -mint- or RandomeLoL: you will be messaged if a revision is required before it is published.
4. May 11 — Prompts published.
5. May 11-June 9 — Mapping period.
6. June 10-29 — Judging period.
7. July 5-6 (weekend of; exact time TBD) — Showcase on the osuBSM Twitch channel! The top 8 submissions and more will be shown along with live commentary, along with the results.

All deadlines will be 23:59 UTC unless otherwise specified.

Rules

1. Please submit contest materials on time. We would prefer not to have to chase people down for these things.
2. Mappers who submitted a prompt in o!mSSC2024 but did not submit a beatmap will not be eligible to submit a map for this iteration of the contest, but may still submit a prompt.

Prompt

1. Prompt must adhere to osu! Rules (wiki/en/Rules) where applicable.
2. Each may submit a maximum of one prompt.
3. Prompt must finish the sentence: “I wish there was a map that…”
4. Prompt must not exceed 10 words in length (excluding the phrase "I wish there was a map that") and may only contain alphanumeric characters or common punctuations. Hyphenated words count as multiple words.
5. Prompt must not be a song or artist name or in direct reference to one. Indirect references are okay, but use them at your own discretion.
6. Prompt may indicate a descriptive genre/style, or abstract concept/phrase. Please feel free to exercise creative liberties here.

Your prompt along with your osu! name will be posted on a spreadsheet which will be linked on this forum post. You must create a beatmap based on a prompt you select.

The organizers reserve the right to disqualify or request revisions for any submission, but will ensure that the prompt submitter or mapper will be informed in a timely manner. The following is a key difference between this contest and Secret Santa: submitting a prompt does not tie you to submitting a map or vice versa. Anyone can submit a prompt, and anyone can submit a map.


Beatmap Submission

1. Submission must be in .osz format.
2. Submission should be an osu!mania beatmap in a keymode that abides by the ranking criteria.
   The length of the beatmap must be between 1:25 and 7:30.
3. Submission must only contain one difficulty.
4. Submission should have a background of reasonable quality.
5. Hitsounds and storyboards are optional. They may be taken into in judging.
6. Difficulty name should be identical to the prompt chosen.
7. Submission must NOT be ed to the osu! website until after the contest’s results are finalized.
8. Your submission must be solely made by you. Collaborations are not allowed for this contest!

Note that all submissions will be anonymized before they're reviewed by judges to avoid bias. During this process, storyboards and backgrounds may be removed.

Criteria

Each submission will be graded out of 40 points, which are broken down as follows:

1. Prompt: 10 points
2. Creativity: 10 points
3. Gameplay: 10 points
4. Musical Representation: 10 points

Each judge gives a score out of 40, and a submission’s final score will be the standardized sum of all the judges’ scores.

Prizes

1. 1 month osu!er to the mappers of the top 8 submissions.
2. The cherishment from heavens above.
