i use a web port of taiko no tatsujin (or whatever the fuck is called) to play at school and kinda just try to have fun. i aim for clears and im tryna start off by immediately learning patterns that are 5 long. i have osu mania experience (5.2 star S rank level at 4k and 5.3 star S rank level on 6k) so i know how to finger the keyboard. im not planning to play taiko on osu until i get to a level where i start properly enjoying it rather than enjoying missing notes

start with muzu

once you can reliably clear Muzu Lv.7, skip to Oni Lv.6

play maps level by level -- once you can reliably do Lv.6, go Lv.7, then Lv.8 and on

Ura Oni and Oni are mostly the same thing in OG Taiko

Only start with Muzukashii if you have a good sense of rhythm. If you want to get used to what the controls are, start with Kantan. Then you can go to Futsuu and practice alternating.

Ura is an extra difficulty that is not necessarily harder. In osu!taiko this is not the case— but in Taiko no Tatsujin, it’s mostly used for songs with special gimmicks. An example of this would be Souryuu no Ran’s Ura, where the entire chart is playable for 2 players simultaneously.
