How is your MAL supposed to help? You haven't rated anything
I created the list years after I started watching anime, so I was too lazy to rate anything tbh. Plus, it was originally intended to be a mere record of what I already watched. However, I've added ratings now.
Well here's a collection of the stuff I tend to recommend maybe you'll find something of interest here.

t/682449
here's some that's not on your list

91 Days -> Mafia drama, guy seeking revenge
Arakawa Under the Bridge -> comedy romance about hobos
Bakemonogatari -> Supernatural romance, lots of talking
Beelzebub -> guy taking care of a baby. op mc, action comedy
Blood Lad -> Overpowered vampire. Comedy action
Classroom of the Elite -> overpowered mc that likes working behind the shadows. a bit edgy but still interesting
Death Note -> just watch it
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar -> isekai-type anime. except this time it's not comedy, but more of a drama
One Punch Man -> why haven't you seen this
Overlord -> transported to a game world. op mc, action harem
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry -> Magical school harem-type anime like asterisk
Sankarea -> Necrophiliac who accidentally resurrected someone
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu -> comedy, annoying heroine but really likeable mc
Toradora -> drama romance
Yamada-kun to 7-ni no Majo -> delinquent that has a special power. comedy romance
Zankyou no Terror -> Psychological drama. MCs are terrorists
Zetsuen no Tempest -> Psychological drama. people trying to prevent world's end

That's more than enough to choose from. Gonna stick with Bakemonogatari, Arakawa, So Ra No Wo To, Mawaru Penguindrum, Shiki, Toradora, Nodame Cantible, 91 Days, Phi Brain aaaaand maybe FMA for now.

So yeah, that case's closed. Thanks for the help you two 0/

How is Overlord inferior...? Literally the best anime ;w; 9/10 imo
Log Horizon is superior as it actually thoroughly examines it's MMORPG mechanics and their implications. It also feels much more like a genuine fleshed out MMO.

I was wanting something with magical genres (or superpowers), school life and comedy.

You do not have to have a unique story and never seen before, just be funny with funny characters or with a different personality.

Something similar to Mahouka Koukou in Rettousei preferably does not focus on technology.

I watched a bit of this anime in 2016 but stopped halfway, thanks for reminding me of it :D <3
It's 2 different but related anime. w/e
I need a suggestion. I really want a good action series with good backstories and stuff, like My Hero Academia. Please no stuff like Naruto where the fights take forever, they aren't bad, just kinda boring after awhile.
Good Backstories is weirdly specific.

Green Platinum wrote: 385q4x

true. i guess just any shows like MHA.
What aspect of MHA though? and how much Shounen anime have you seen? You aren't really providing any useful information in order to give a recommendation.

Okay, I'm bad at explaining. I should probably just listen to my friend and watch whatever the hell he says, regardless of what type of show it is. Thanks for trying.
I don't know how you'd expect us to read you mind. Even the difference between wanting a superhero show and a shounen high-school show would yield different recommendations.
Wow ded thread

Anyways I'm looking for a classic Silmarillion-esque show if there is even any; cut the generic anime shit as much as possible; something similar to maybe... hmmm, He-Man maybe.

I don't think any anime really fits what I'm looking for or at least none from what I've bothered to search so I doubt I'll get a suggestion but I appreciate the help if I get any.
Because of the dominance of Buddhism in Japan the cultural ideas featured within folklore and super-nature are fundamentally different from the west. If Mushishi or Mononoke aren't what you are looking for it is probably worth focusing on the western fantasy inspired anime that became popular throughout the mid 90's although classic Berserk is the only thing I know that has really stood the test of time.

Nichijou
Watch Konbini Kareshii if you want to be depressed. Or Tsuki ga Kirei, it's a school/slice of life/romance anime.
....
parasyte, tokyo ghoul, kabaneri of iron, akame ga kill, idk
I guess horror and lots of blood is subjective.

I Have MAL (BioZap43)
I will never understand why so many people request "school" anime here. Boring overdone setting.
because those people are school kids

Well, Everyone Had It's Own Taste Of Watching Anime
And Why I'd More Like School + Comedy, It's Because I Just Like Watching Them, So What's The Problem?
Because a school setting doesn't contribute anything. Gintama and Mahoujin Guru Guru for example aren't any less funny because they aren't stuck in school I'd even say they are better for it since it allows a much broader scope for their comedy to cover. Gintama in particular here.
I need anime recommendation. I have watched around 150 anime and I don't know what to watch.
Prefferences: A lot of fights or something with a good story(should not be mainstream anime)
Thanks in advance!!

"Sounds"? "sounds like edgy crap" u say? how about u try reading it(atleast the 1st chapter)and not hearing it
It's your job to make the case for it here. Just saying it's 10/10 shounen does nothing for me considering how often I have heard people claim that.
If you like cute and scary things then I recommend school live (also for the full effect make sure you don't read spoilers anywhere).

Can y'all recommend some good comedy anime? No longer that twelve episodes please, and do refrain from suggesting ecchi or any type of fanservice. (I'm fine with homo stuff if that's what you plan to give me.)

You can see oregairu here on MAL. The link is to the first season.

anyone have any good anime recommendations?

ampzz wrote: 536g2v

I have meant to do this a while ago since I was sick of seeing all the random threads popping up with regard to "suggest me an anime!?!" so I'll take the time to write up a decent opening post explaining the purpose of this thread and how to go ing it.

Just so that this doesn't turn into a complete spam-fest of people saying stuff along the lines of, "Watch [insert anime title] because I think it's good!"
We shall run through a few things to keep this nice and civilised without the likelihood of this turning into a chat room just between one to three people, as I've noticed has turned into a trend lately...

If you are after an anime suggestion pop in a few things like:
  1. The genre of anime you want to watch; in saying this it isn't a necessity but it makes it easier for people to offer suggestions.
  2. Give examples of similar anime you may have seen. If you have a MyAnimeList or Anime Database (anidb) with a few titles of what you've seen already this comes to be a lot easier.
  3. A brief description of what kind of anime you wish to see.
e.g. I want to see something not unique and unlike most anime that is released lately.
  4. Ask for a few suggestions at a time that way you will have a decent backlog of anime to trawl through whenever you finish off one particular title and then can move onto the next.
With this out of the way we move on to the part of offering suggestions to particular s which is simpler if you do something that includes:
  1. Try to break up certain aspects of your suggestion list by grouping similar anime together or, if they're after multiple genre requests, group them into their respective labels.
Some people prefer being able to organise their plan-to-watch lists by watching one genre type at a time.
  2. Possibly give your own short take on the anime titles which doesn't have to be much, even a few words is better than nothing at all.
  3. Take into consideration of which anime they've listed as already seen or the comparative title they're after.
  4. Offer a few anime titles at a time, even if they are the OVA of the same named anime title as most people might skip OVA, OAD or movies since they didn't know about them.
Just use these as an idea of what you should consider to help another person figure out which anime they may want to see if you're suggesting to them.

That's about it, enjoy making requests and/or suggestions as there is quite a few anime lovers out there who would love to offer their opinions on what anime people might not have seen or known about which are priceless or just simply skipped out completely due to mainstream titles, myself included.

Since common sense doesn't seem to apply to people; going to add this as a permanent rule which must be adhered to otherwise your post will be removed, no questions asked.
  1. Do not link, discuss or 'recommend' any hentai title, ever.
I suggest you barakamon, its about a guy that wants to be an important celebrity of the guys that write ancient kanji´s, then to get some inspiration he goes to an island, where he meet some people, the anime its about comedy, but its very good...
For those who came from Harumachi Clover, I recommend OneRoom starting from the FIRST SEASON*.

spoiler
Third season was on-air since 2020
if anyone is looking for mahō shōjo recommendations, i recommend:
disclaimer: the spoilers are to mark out content warnings (: ! if you want to go into it blind then don't click them.

Hello, I'm specxtical and i've been an anime weeb for some time and I want to start watching anime once again. I like animes that is aesthetic such as your name(kimi no na wa), weathering with you, daring of franxx and demon slayer. I've watched tones of nothing animes, but i just can't them top of my head. If you have suggestions for me, please reply or pm me.

(I also like slice of life animes)

Thanks, specxtical
Henloooo anime guys & gals!

Sooooo...
I'm going to meet up with some of my friends from my old school days and since it's been so long we decided to maybe watch an anime or so. Big question: which one?

Since we just wanna have a good time there is no real bar in of production quality. Best would be something which has either a fair amount of funny moments or is just so bad that it turns out to be involuntarily funny. Something one can bullshit about. It'd be cool if there'd be an actual plot the series follows and develops instead of an episodical format, but that's no major criterion.
Genre doens't really matter. Though a serious, psychological thriller and the likes wouldn't fit the bill.
Since we plan to bingewatch a shorter series would be much appreciated (<=13 episodes). Plus, we absolutely aren't up to date with the productions of the last few years so something since 2017 would be perfect (except Kaguya, 'cause we've already watched that one). But again, no major point in deciding.

Back then we watched things like Sakamoto, Dog Days, Index / Railgun, Oreimo, Acchi Kocchi, Koichoco and Fate/Stay Night with its glorious CGI cars (Deen adaptation) for such occasions.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Except ones with certain "adult" themes. We've already settled on that one. Haha... (dead inside)

do you guys have something like ERASED but with a good ending? would love that
I recommend an anime called Steins Gate, it has a good plot and it catches you instantly, if by a good ending you mean that it leaves you satisfied, this is fine, but if you mean something that ends well, and with the problems solved , I recommend Shinsekai yori, it has a plot that moves slowly, but it rewards it by building a complex story about human darkness, tension and violence.
em2 is officially slowly turning into a weeb

Anyway so I have been thinking of checking out some anime series's on my own considering recent thoughts building upon them and that I have wanted to try out new things for this year, so I suppose this could be interesting.

So anyway, does anyone know any animes which I could possibly get into? I'm not sure what my preferences for the genres would be but I would be into trying different genres here and there as long as the plot for the anime is well constructed with deep lore as those sort of series's seem to catch my interest as of late (Think series's like "Squid Game" for example, even though that's not anime). Someone earlier suggested for me to watch Blue Exorcist and I checked out the first three episodes in the first season and I think it's pretty cool so far, so I think I could check out more animes like it or different genres with constructed lore like I had mentioned earlier – I suppose I shall wait for the suggestions to roll in now, thanks!

oh yea btw i only have netflix so if other platforms for anime are more convenient to use then id be interested in hearing some of them too if possible

Netflix and crunchyroll are pretty much the rulers of anime streaming platforms internationally.
I'm not sure what platforms are on U.K.

Also, I would recommend something like HxH or FMA of the sort. Aren't you the same guy who was against the idea of calling Shelter an anime?
i dont even that lol but yea i didnt consider shelter as an anime because it was mainly an animated music video under a style that seems like an anime for a good song

also wait what is fma just full-metal alchemist or something since i know that hxh is hunter x hunter

Not in any order. Will not rate it so it won’t affect your enjoyment.

Didn’t include the mainstream one since you may have watched it already.
chainsaw-man is a good anime!!!
Watch Cyberpunk: Edgerunners guys
Watch Somali & The Forest Spirit. Genuinely great little show with an expansive world reminiscent to that of children's fairy tales and a captivating story with heavy themes and a few tear-jerker moments that actually manage to hit. A good although not too spectacular cast of characters (great titular characters with an adorable father-daughter relationship though), great OST and OP and ED songs, and some gorgeous visuals. Just great all around.
bocchi the rock

Steins gate (pretty heavy story)
Shinsekai Yori (really HEAVY story with even more dystopian setting)
Kaguya-sama (good romcom with even better ed song)
Nisekoi (waifu war. Onodera best girl.)
Girls und Panzer (Cute girls riding historically accurate tanks. What could go wrong.)
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom (Quite cringe. but if you're into stratergy/planning game (HoI/EU/Civ kind of stuffs) or you're into politics, you may enjoy watching this)

other than that, if you have enough spare time, Monogatari Series. That's definitely something else.
Eden of the East will always be a gem
If you like slice of life and love story anime with a little bit of fights, you should try Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! Very funny :)
