I personally can't agree with people who are way too aggressive to Gangnam Style... Yes there might be many other great maps (tbh I didn't vote for gangnam cuz I got maps I like better... btw what's the definition of great map though?) but that doesn't mean Gangnam Style doesn't even deserve a vote.

The problem is that the results will be based on the number of results, and considering the number of candidates, popular maps are much more likely to get more votes (since more people know them, more people can decide if they are worth voting for or not). Since most people here don't know all the beatmap listed as candidates (I think about 90% of the voters don't even know 10% of the beatmaps listed), this voting is highly based on popularity, instead of map quality.

There is also the problem that votings are based on beatmap difficulty sets instead of specific beatmaps, so players have only an opinion based on the difficulties they have played. For example: http://osu-ppy-sh.cinevost.com/s/40440, it's Normal and Hard difficulties are better than it's Insane difficulty beatmap IMO.

These are the kind of maps that keep me coming back to osu, all great songs, perfect mapping, and what sets these apart from the rest is the creativity that went into them. I think the majority of maps ranked these days are high quality, but at the same time feel a lot like "been there, played that". Every now and then though I find a new map that is so impressive, how some mappers can use the same tired circles and sliders and make them feel fresh again. So basically, thanks to all the above mappers for making osu the best game ever.

Btw unfortunate how some of my very favorite mappers didn't get a map in (La Cataline, val0108), but their guest diffs are a huge part of what made Bangarang and Six Trillion Years so special.

I think he has. he just doesn't get why it gets so much love for being a gimmicky map. and to be honest, I don't get it aswell. it might be an impressive map and a huge amount of work, but I don't have fun playing it. I was discussing why BlythE is being picked so much, and I was informing the people that apparently weren't pleased by this that there are many other choices to pick if they don't like that map. So you tone it down a bit and keep it to friendly discussion (precisely what I didn't do previously in the thread but I was a dumbass for getting trolled) and if you feel like you can't handle the anger, I'd recommend staying off the computer for a while.
