I'm going to be the captain of the Finnish team, prepare for some delicious drama~
He posted properly. He's sorry if it mad you mad in any way, but the fact do is that NL played a few rounds with 3 players because of the problem they had with getting enough. Why can't they just have 8?Loctav wrote: 4r5h2e

I beg to disagree. It's possible to play intentionally in a way that mis-plays maps correctly and yet has a much higher, more reliable chance to combo consistently on maps (at the loss of accuracy). Especially in multi, if you play for a score win, it's in fact better to play like that instead of playing correctly because you can always get random miss in the middle of the map and have the entire score ruined and get random'd out if you play legit. There are more than enough cases where one player has both higher acc and less miss than another yet less score from another due to combo, and it feels really unfair if the latter gets the win when it's clear the first one played better.XPJ38 wrote: 3m2l40
Being able to FC a map / get a good score on it at all times is a quality required to play the game, especially in multi. It shows how good you have become on the map.
Reason would be: to improve and make progress instead of getting stuck with sub-optimal decisions from the past. Focusing on accuracy and miss instead of combo would improve the quality of plays.thelewa wrote: 4e2o3k
The scoring has been win-by-score in the past tournaments so I don't really see a reason to change it
What do you define as "played better"? Isn't what you mentioned just strategy? If you play for keeping combo even if "misplaying the map" you'll end up with a worse score than an opponent with better acc that also FCs the same map, but on the other hand that "misplaying" could even be a match winner if no one else FCs it. That's what makes these games so interesting in my opinion. Measuring someone's skill isn't just their raw osu abilities, it's also how one handles pressure or even stamina, and there's definately a lot of pressure to handle when keeping high combos.Aqo wrote: 2f6o2o

I agree, maps should be easy and every average player should be able to FC them. Anything else is preposterous.Renard wrote: j4v6x
if that would be true then i put my white flag up right now and surrender coz i aint playing no aqo maps ;(darkmiz wrote: 4q1v70
Aqo is map-selector?
This is going to be a fun tournament.
I doubt we will be able to set this up. Sorry. :Cxsrsbsns wrote: 6q406a
Any chance of including a losers' bracket for this? ie. double eliminations format
It'll take a lot more time on scheduling though..
Yeah, I went over it and already using it as a guide for what maps to pick. Still, I think it would be nice to have the possibility of having some slightly more advanced maps pattern-wise (and not speed-wise. i.e. maps with jumps and streams everybody can do, but complex patterns like back and forth stacking, sv changes, 1/4 sliders, 1/3 timing circles and so on) for the later stages of the tourney. Still, will see.thelewa wrote: 4e2o3k
edit: I just checked the last thread, you should use it for advice too. The maps for the Finals were on the level of Chousai Kenbo Sengen and F.I, so not really hard at all. They were basically all the tiebreakers and a few extra maps.
Renard please D:Renard wrote: j4v6x

all clear except one question " Mapset Selector - each round needs a specific set of maps being preset in a mappool. This requires you to be experienced in gameplay and evaluating maps in their difficulty and style."
i know captains of two sides will select the maps in the match, but who will preset the competng maps in a mappool? staff or player?

Each player will be streammed so we will see if they fail or not. Another alternative is to ask players to save the replay at the end of a game (F2) and to send it to owc#3 s.NatsumeRin wrote: 2q1fi
A problem here:
In the previous OWC, failed score won't count. So first i think this should be mentioned...
Then the more serious part: Now we have the "revive" thing in MP when you get your HP full again after failed. Is scores like this count, or not?
I only know that the score will no be added to ranked score even if you revived.NatsumeRin wrote: 2q1fi

Just posting that we need 8 players. I really can't see the problem with us having more. Just add it in already.
